Time needed: 15 minutes.
Intro: use a pencil to draw a Batman sketch. In the initial stages, don’t push the pencil too hard to easily erase it. Use subtle strokes to sketch batman drawings.
- Step 1
To draw Batman, we start with the side oval shape, this sketch will be the basic shape of Batman’s head. Don’t worry, it doesn’t have to be perfect, this is only a guide.
On the lower left side of the oval, draw a shape similar to a box with the top missing. This will be Batman’s jaw / chin.
- Step 2
Next draw a vertical line curved from the top of the oval to the bottom of the box and a horizontal line curved at the bottom of the oval.
This is a construction line that will help you place the facial features of this cartoon character later.
Draw a series of lines under the whole shape as a guide to Batman’s thick neck.
- Step 3
That’s all for Batman’s initial sketch of Batman: The Animated Series! You have the basic cartoon form of Batman, so now go in and tighten your image. From now on, press harder with your pencil to get darker lines and clearer sketches.
Draw the eyes of Batman sitting on horizontal lines on both sides of the vertical line. They look like blunt triangles, and the left one is a little smaller because of perspective.
- Step 4
Use the square guide to draw at the bottom of Batman’s exposed face.
Make the upper part of the low square to form a point on the vertical line and the shape of the nose. Also make it slightly tilted up on the lower right side to form the jaws of this cartoon character.
Draw a small horizontal line curved under Batman’s nose for his mouth and another curved line but vertical to the right as a smile line
- Step 5
Use the left side of the main oval to draw the shape of Batman’s head. Start drawing lines where the mask starts on the left, make it enter Batman’s eye to form his cheekbones and stop drawing lines on the upper right side of his head.
This Batman ear cartoon is basically a triangle above the main oval. The one on the right drops lower and curves across his head to form the front of his forehead.
- Step 6
Darken the lines that create Batman’s neck, there he is! You now have a Batman sketch from Batman: The Animated Series.
You can stop at this quick image for a rough and faint look or continue for a more finished look by proceeding to the steps below.
For a more complete and inked look of Batman, examine the last sketch line with a pen or marker. Wait until the ink dries, then remove all pencil marks with an eraser. You now have a printed Batman image! You can stop here or go to the last step to complete your Batman image.
To draw a finished Batman cartoon, you must color. You can use markers, colored pencils or even crayons! The color of the Batman mask is black with the blue top to symbolize the shine. You can also add blue to the small neck for a greater effect. Batman’s skin is a peach color, but if you don’t have peaches, improvise and use yellow-orange or light brown. Trial! There she is! You now have a complete Batman image from Batman: The Animated Series.
